Maoists to observe PLGA week, security beefed up in Naxal-infested districts Ahead of the Maoist ‘People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) week’, security has been tightened in Naxal-infested areas such as Koraput and Malkangiri districts of Odisha.

Combing operation in Naxal-hit Andhra-Odisha border areas has been intensified in view of the PLGA week in order to avoid any untoward incident by the Red Ultras. Government buses remained off-roads in both Koraput and Malkangiri districts.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Western Range, K Shafin Ahmed, told to India Today TV that security has been beefed up and checking of vehicles has been going on.

“We are taking all necessary security steps. There is no need for people to panic. The situation is absolutely normal. There is a heavy deployment of forces in the South Western Range,” Ahmed said. Read more
