Big dip in terrorist incidents in Jammu and Kashmir in last two years, says government

The Centre on Wednesday claimed that the number of terror incidents in Jammu and Kashmir has reduced drastically in the last two years. It also said that necessary steps have been taken to protect the life and property of the people.

These include proactive operations against terrorists, identification and arrest of overground workers and supporters of terrorism, action against members of banned organizations, intensified night patrolling checking at Nakas, security arrangements through appropriate deployment, coordination meetings amongst intelligence agencies and maintaining a high level of alertness.

Terrorist incidents reduced by 32% upto June 2021
The number of terrorist incidents in the valley has reduced during 2021 by 32 percent in comparison with the corresponding period up to June, 2020, said Union minister of state for home affairs Nityanand Rai while responding to a question in the Rajya Sabha.
He further informed that these incidents witnessed a reduction of 59 percent in 2020 in comparison with 2019.

“The number of terrorist incidents have reduced during 2020 by 59 per cent as compared to 2019 and 32 per cent upto June 2021 in comparison with Corresponding period upto June, 2020,” he said.
