Eastern Command GOC-in-C Lt Gen Manoj Pande on Sunday visited the Eastern Air Command (EAC) headquarters in Shillong, Meghalaya, and discussed defence readiness with the EAC’s AOC-in-Chief, Air Marshal Amit Dev.
Since taking command of the Eastern Army on June 1, this was Gen Manoj Pande’s first visit to the EAC headquarters. Joint operations and jointmanship were the main topics of discussion between the two commanders.
Meanwhile, Lt Gen Pande was briefed on the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) Eastern Sector operations in support of the Indian Army.
Decisions were taken to conduct realistic joint training exercises on a regular basis in order to draw lessons for actual operations. Incidentally, both the commanders trained together at the National Defence Academy (NDA) and graduated from the same batch in December 1981.
Lieutenant General Manoj Pande assumed command of Eastern Command on June 1, 2021. He previously served as Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman and Nicobar Command, India’s only Tri-Services Operational Command.
