A day after India imposed a ban on 43 more mobile apps, most of them of Chinese origin, Beijing on Wednesday reacted and “firmly opposed” the move. Ji Rong, the spokesperson of the Chinese embassy in India, said her country opposes India’s repeated excuse of ‘national security’ to take action against Chinese apps.
“China firmly opposes Indian side’s repeated use of ‘national security’ as excuse to prohibit mobile apps with Chinese background. Hope India provides fair, impartial and non-discriminatory biz environ for all market players, and rectify discriminatory practices (sic),” Ji wrote on Twitter.
The spokesperson also posted the embassy’s response to a media query on the matter and said it hoped India would rectify the discriminatory practices which violate WTO rules.
