As India continues to maintain an aggressive military and diplomatic stance against China in dealing with the issue of months-long border standoff in eastern Ladakh, the US delegation comprising of Secretary of state Mike Pompeo and Defence Secretary Mark T Esper, reportedly told the Indan side that the entire world is looking towards New Delhi and any hesitation on its part to deal with the tense situation along the Line of Control (LoC) will demoralise and hurt efforts to check Beijing’s expansionist agenda.

Pompeo, who along with Esper, visited India this week to take part in the third edition of the India-US 2+2 dialogue made the comments while meeting Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, a report published in ToI said.

The US delegation expressed solidarity with India over China’s People’s Liberation Army’s aggressive moves in eastern Ladakh. The high-level interaction comes at a time when the Indian and Chinese armies are locked in a bitter standoff at multiple locations in eastern Ladakh for six months and is likely to be stretched into the winter.

In a stern message to China, the high-level US delegation said that America stands with India it as it confronts threats to their sovereignty and liberty.
