Big win for India! Pakistan parliamentary panel approves Bill to review Kulbhushan Jadhav’s conviction

Relentless efforts by India to provide justice to Kulbhushan Jadhav is bearing fruits after a Pakistani parliamentary panel approved a Bill to review the conviction of the former Indian naval officer, in compliance with the orders of the International Court of Justice.

The draft Bill – ‘The International Court of Justice (Review and Reconsideration) Ordinance’ – was approved by the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Law and Justice on Wednesday in spite of vehement resistance from the country’s Opposition.

Fifty-year-old Jadhav was in April 2017 sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court on the ridiculous charges of espionage and terrorism.

India approached the ICJ in 2017 against Pakistan over the denial of consular access to Jadhav, and also challenged the death sentence.
