On the eve of India’s 74th Independence Day, the Indo-Tibetan Police Force (ITBP) has recommended gallantry awards for 21 soldiers who displayed courage and bravery during the skirmishes with China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in Eastern Ladakh in the months of May and June 2020.
ITBP Director General SS Deswal has recommended 21 Gallantry medal recommendations, 294 DG Gallantry Commendations for ITBP personnel for displaying raw courage and bravery during the faceoffs and skirmishes with the Chinese troops in Eastern Ladakh in May-June.
Sources say the recommendations for the bravery of the ITBP troops is other than the clashes in the Galwan Valley. Similar incidents with the Chinese Army have taken place at other patrol points in May and June, 2020.
Revealing what faceoff with the Chinese troops on the Ladakh border has been like in May and June, ITBP said the Chinese soldiers used stone pelters to attack the Indian soldiers on the Ladakh border. At some places, faceoffs continued for 17-20 hours.
