Independence Day: J&K on alert as intel warns of vehicle-borne terror attacks on forces

Day before the 74th Independence Day, a security alert has been sounded in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) following the inputs of possible vehicle-borne terror attacks to disrupt the celebrations on August 15. Security forces are on high alert in J&K after receiving intelligence that terrorists may launch terror attacks ahead of the Independence Day.

The inputs, according to the sources, indicate that terrorists have been planning to carry out attacks at various locations in J&K. Security forces in Butham and Gulgam areas of Kulgam could be targeted on or before Independence Day, sources in the security forces said.

The Intelligence Bureau (IB) report, accessed by India Today, says Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) have tasked their operatives to carry out the vehicle-borne IED attacks on the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.
