The situation along LAC is extremely tense after the PLA encroached into Indian territory in eastern Ladakh, the daughter of ‘Lion of Ladakh’ Chewang Rinchen, Dr Angmo, has said.
She said the conflict should not be politicised and the country should remain united to push back the Chinese from Ladakh. Aggressive diplomacy, she suggested, should be pursued to end the escalation. War should be the last resort as it only brings destruction for all, she said, while adding that the Indian Army was ready to face any situation.
Last October, Dr Angmo had attended the inauguration of strategically important Rinchen Bridge over Shyok river, named after her father, in Daulat Beg Oldi, one of the flashpoints in the ongoing faceoff.
“I am proud that the most important strategic bridge in DBO was named after my father considering the bravery and valor he exhibited during his service. Now it is the duty of the country to protect this important strategic asset,” Dr Angmo said.
The 1400 feet long bridge at 14,650 feet is at the end of the 255 km Durbok-Shyok-DBO road, which has 37 more bridges across various streams.
