In a daring terror attack, terrorists opened fire at a police party at Yaripora Kulgam in south Kashmir on Thursday. No loss of life was reported in the incident but a civilian was injured. The police party also included the station house officer of the local police station in Yaripora.
Forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation but the terrorists reportedly managed to escape.
The armed terrorists fled, leaving behind a black Santro car after attempting to attack cops.
In pictures accessed by India Today TV, the black Santro car with broken windows can be seen abandoned on the side of the road. The car was used by the terrorists in the daring attack on SHO Yaripora. The four terrorists were carrying pistols and other weapons, say sources.
The incident took place when the vehicle was stopped for checking by a nakka party led by the SHO.
Though no terror group has claimed responsibility for the attack, sources said Hizbul Mujahideen commander Owais Malik is active in the area.
