A meeting of armed forces was held at Divisional Comissionerate on Tuesday to discuss future strategies in case there is major outbreak of coronavirus in the division. Top officials of Indian Army and Indian Air Force (IAF) were at the meeting that also took stock of arrangements at military establishments in the region.
The military officials were asked to be in readiness for all counter measures if needed to assist civil administration to combat coronavirus, said the sources.
One major focus of the meeting was on preparedness of the military establishments themselves in their respective capacity, available medical staff and medicines and support they might need from civil side for their own drills was discussed at length at the meeting.
Officials from Sub-Area Command, Vayusena Nagar, Kamptee Cantonment and allied military establishments all together are housing more than 5,000 defence personnel and their families.
These establishments have just a 150-bedded hospital facility and in case of any major outbreak what steps are to be taken to contain the situation was also taken stock by senior officials. Sources informed that Divisional Commissioner Sanjeev Kumar asked the officials to conduct training of military medical staff so that they could immediately respond to any emergency situation in the Eastern Vidarbha Region.
After this training programme, families of the defence personnel and the staff should also be kept informed from time to time about preventive measures. Army and Air Force officials reportedly told civilian officials that they have already ordered their staff to stop non emergency movement within respective campuses.
Every defence personnel has been asked to stay at their place till lockdown in force and follow daily instructions issued from command centres from time to time.
