Russia has started production of the S-400 anti-aircraft systems to be supplied to India, planning to also create a training center in this country.
“The Almaz-Antey consortium has started production of the S-400 systems for India; Russia will deliver within the period provided for in the contract,” said Industry and Commerce Minister Denis Manturov in an interview with Sputnik.
He also noted that the two countries fully comply with their obligations set out in the agreement signed, including with regard to payment.
“I add that work is being done to create a training center in India,” said the Russian minister.
India is one of Russia’s most important partners in the area of technical-military cooperation . The contract signed provides for the delivery of five regiments of the S-400 systems, estimated at a value of more than R $ 21 million.
In November 2019, Rosoboronexport Managing Director Aleksandr Mikheev stated that Russia has plans to start the process of delivering the S-400 systems to India in September 2021.
Moscow plans to supply the fifth batch of anti-aircraft defense systems in the first half of 2025.
